The design and realization of five Interactive light costumes in collaboration with Coline Fontaine and Delphine Piault, worn by the Contact-Improvisation dancers involved in the “100-Dancers” meeting in Copenhagen during the first week of august. The artistic aim was to create site specific choreography and big volumes of movement, a mass of dancing bodies that in seconds transforms our notion of a given space. The Danish organizer and choreographer Pipaluk Supernova in collaboration with international dancers as well as installation artists, musicians, engineers, scientists, architects and programmers, has over the years experimented with many different ways of bringing the world of dance and site specific experiences into the audience.

Nille Juul-Sørensen, associate director at Arup  and Chairman of the jury at  ”INDEX award“, the worlds most prestigious Design award:
“I think that the combination of traditional-rich fabric for clothes and the new high tech application is fantastic.
The proposal measures CO2 but I see more this design as the starting point where we design technologic things into our everyday garments in some very refined ways. The dress is well designed and the overall idea with the small stars which continuously evolve in brightness is beautifully conceived”.

Trials of the first prototype for the interactive costumes to be created for the “100-Dancers” festival (July 28t-august 5th). Light patterns react to speed and rotation and will be explored by the dancers.
Exchange students from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation (Coline Fontaine, Delphine Piault, Marlene Fisher, Zeynep Sen, Nina Wester) are collaborating on that project…More to come !

With the boom of environmental consciousness, bags with integrated solar cells to charge your mobile phone or laptop have become commonplace. The usual approach of placing flexible thin film solar modules onto messenger type bags, however, has primarily led to products in a outdoor/leisure category. Diffus Design has teamed up with e.g. Swiss embroidery specialist Forster Rohner and Alexandra institute (DK) to challenge this approach.
